Rainy day ideas in Sydney
By InfoKids Team ·
Museums, trampolines, aquariums and libraries: indoor plans that actually tire kids out.
Sydney rain tends to arrive all at once. When it does, these are the indoor spots we reach for first.
Free (or nearly)
- Australian Museum: dinosaurs, minerals and a hands-on kids' space. General entry is free.
- Art Gallery of NSW: free general entry, family trails and weekend art-making.
- Museums Discovery Centre at Castle Hill: walk-through collection stores full of trains, planes and oddities. Free on weekends.
- Powerhouse Parramatta: opening 7 November 2026, with big hands-on science and design spaces.
- Your local library. Parramatta Library at PHIVE and Customs House Library both run free storytimes.
Burn some energy
- Trampoline parks: BOUNCEinc Homebush, BOUNCEinc Cromer and Flip Out Caringbah. Most have toddler sessions on weekday mornings.
