“For all young climbers, these groups will meet for weekly coaching sessions. Our committed coaches are experienced climbers who have come through similar programs themselves. Climbers are not expected to compete in events, but if they choose to, this is a good way to develop both physically and mentally.
Birthday parties: Rock climbing is a great idea for a Birthday party. We have a mezzanine area set up with tables and chairs for your use throughout the booking.

With more than 850 square meters of climbing walls for you to explore, this fairly new center in Marrickville is worth the trip. They welcome kids 12 and over, but they are strict about supervision and timing – kids can come one weekday before 5.30 pm. Once again if your child is younger and is interested in trying it out, just get in touch.

Although 9 Degrees endeavors to be an inclusive facility we are first and foremost an adult venue with climbing most suitable for those 5ft tall and above.
While there are undoubtedly many climbs a child can conquer with the required supervision, large groups or those hoping to leave children unattended may be better off exploring more suitable options for entertainment. If you’re looking to take your child rock climbing and you’re unsure whether 9 Degrees is the right fit please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We’d be happy to answer any questions you may have or recommend an alternative child-friendly rock climbing gym in your local area.
In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, and their connections to land, sea, and community.

The Northern Beaches Rockhouse has been a successful indoor climbing center for over 20 years. They have 10+ walls, with almost 100 different routes you can take to the top! Kids need to be 13 and above to hold the ropes, but from the age of three, they can have some fun scaling the walls. It’s based on their ability and confidence as to whether or not they can climb.

Our small bouldering wall is great for little kids to scramble around on! It also offers excellent ‘endurance training’ for older kids, who can train on our ‘100 hold challenge’. Our top-rope slab wall is very popular on the weekends, with kids as young as 3 regularly making it to the top. The angle is well under vertical, so it’s easy to keep your weight on your feet. Great for building confidence with heights and learning to climb without needing too much arm strength.
