Kuranda Koala Gardens is Kuranda’s newest wildlife attraction! Situated in the heart of Kuranda, this attraction gives you the opportunity to see some of Australia’s most unique wildlife up close.
They have a variety of wildlife for you to see including:
Koalas: Lots of opportunity to observe their koalas doing what they do best – eating, sleeping and looking adorable. Fossil evidence shows that koalas originally lived in rainforest environments. As Australia became drier, they adapted to eat Eucalypt leaves, which replaced much of the country’s rainforests.
Kuranda Koala Gardens is part of the Freeman Family owned and operated Wildlife Tropical North Queensland Group. Other wildlife experiences under this banner include Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures.

Ipswich Nature Centre in Ipswich’s historical Queens Park offers a magical opportunity to get up close and personal with Australian native wildlife. For 80 years, locals and visitors have been able to see animals on this site, and the twenty-first century version is up there with the best of wildlife refuges. And to make the cute and furry animals feel as at home as possible, there are lush landscaped gardens and exhibits that have been recreated to represent local bushland and flora communities.
A handsome rotunda built in 1891 is the entrance to the Centre, which asks for a donation of a gold coin as entry fee to help with the upkeep of the animals. From there, you stroll on shady walkways and enjoy the cute native residents such as wombats, wallabies, emus, quolls, and a nocturnal bilby exhibit. A vibrant rainforest bird aviary is alive with colour and sound, and youngsters will have a ball in the barn which has calves, lambs, pigs and guinea pigs.
Open six days a week and near the Japanese Nerima Gardens within Queens Park, the Ipswich Nature Centre is perfect family-friendly fun. Open seven days a week during School holidays.

David Fleay Wildlife Park, on Tallebudgera Creek near Burleigh Heads, on Queensland’s Gold Coast, is a wildlife park with a difference!
You can stroll through natural habitats and visit a nocturnal house to see some of Australia’s most iconic wildlife. You’ll meet crocodiles, koalas, emus, brolgas, dingoes, dunnarts, bilbies and kangaroos, along with resident platypus, Wally. Explore the park on your own or join the rangers in one of their daily wildlife shows.
The park plays an important role in demonstrating the conservation initiatives of David Fleay, who established the property in 1951. Previously employed at Melbourne Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary, he became the first to breed platypus in captivity. Fleay was ahead of his time, in insisting that birds and other animals should be kept in conditions similar to their natural environment. The naturalistic enclosures you see today reflect that now-widely held philosophy. The park continues Fleay’s work of research, breeding and education; offering the chance to see many different threatened native animals in one location.
Most of David Fleay Wildlife Park is suitable for wheelchairs, prams and for those who find walking difficult. You can also explore the nearby Tallebudgera Creek mangrove boardwalk along the mangrove-fringed Tallebudgera Creek.
