Plus most of Australia’s iconic animal species, from Koalas to Tasmanian Devils and Wombats – many rescued orphaned or injured, or part of ‘breed-for-release’ programs – are cared for by the rangers in various natural camps. The National Zoo & Aquarium is privately owned, and is Australia’s only combined Zoo and Aquarium – that’s 2 attractions in one! They are situated on around 18 hectares of land just five minutes from the centre of Canberra. With a wide variety of both native and exotic animals, as well as the largest inland saltwater tank in Australia.
